The Tomaselli Collection team is pleased to share its new temporary exhibition: « 𝐋𝐚 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞́ 𝐚̀ 𝐋𝐲𝐨𝐧 : 𝟏𝟗𝟎𝟎-𝟏𝟗𝟐𝟓 » produced in partnership with the BrouillArts Lyonnais association, to be held from 𝟐𝟑 𝐚𝐯𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝐚𝐮 𝟕 𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒.
The exhibition covers the period of early 20th-century Lyon, from the creation of the 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐋𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐢𝐬 in 1901 (later renamed Salon d’Automne) until the creation of 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐮 𝐒𝐮𝐝-𝐄𝐬𝐭 in 1925.

In 1920, the 𝐙𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐫 group initiated by painters and sculptors from Lyon’s Ecole des Beaux-Arts came together to exhibit at Galerie Saint-Pierre.

This collective of artists, self-confessed ignoramuses and protesters, refute academic art to be resolutely modern. Although they didn’t produce any artistic manifestos, they did produce three albums of their engraved work.
Active from 1920 to 1924, they brought with them numerous initiatives, such as the avant-garde magazines 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒊𝒓 (1921-1922) and 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒎𝒆̀𝒕𝒓𝒆 (1922-1928).
This presentation of Lyon’s modernities is also an opportunity to highlight other artistic typologies, such as the photographic medium, with works by Théodore Blanc and Antoine Demilly, as well as sculptures by Marcel Gimond and Georges Salendre.
You’ll find works by Adrien Bas, Louis Bouquet, Georges Bouche, Eugène Brouillard, Émilie Charmy, Pierre Combet-Descombes, Venance Curnier, Émile Didier, Marcel Gimond, Jacques Laplace, Claude Leriche, Francisque Martin, Jacques Martin, Étienne Morillon, Philippe Pourchet, Charles Sénard, Louis Touchagues, Georges Albert Tresch and many others.
The publication corresponding to our exhibition entitled « 𝐵𝐴𝑆 𝐴𝑅𝑇𝑆 𝐿𝑌𝑂𝑁𝑁𝐴𝐼𝑆, 𝑅𝐸𝑀𝑂𝑈𝑆 𝐴𝑅𝑇𝐼𝑆𝑇𝐼𝑄𝑈𝐸𝑆 1900-1925″ has already been published by Editions Libel ».
